Who is Australia's greatest golfer of all-time?

Moonah Links in the money

By Brad Clifton Volume 42.JUNE ISSUE 2010 Jun 2010

THE home of Australian golf is now home to the 2010 Golfer Pacific $100,000 Giveaway Promotion.

Yep, Moonah Links is this year’s lucky winner of the unique giveaway competition after Golfer Pacific general manager Leigh Smith dug deep in a barrel full of entries last month and pulled out the Victorian beauty.

Moonah Links qualified for the draw because they were one of 1000 clubs that renewed their annual subscription to Golfer Pacific. As a result, $100,000 cold, hard cash is now on offer to one lucky Moonah Links’ customer simply by playing a round at the Mornington Peninsula course.

The $100,000 Giveaway is a sales promotion paid for by Golfer Pacific with the express purpose of driving rounds of golf at the winning club, along with sales in food and beverage and any other sales initiatives the club implements.Once chosen, one Moonah Links’ customer will get a 1-250 chance to win $100,000 cash at a special gala evening, simply by picking the envelope that contains the mega cash booty. The other 249 envelopes will have a guaranteed prize, meaning there will be a winner regardless. Last year’s winner received a free trip to the Gold Coast to take part in the prestigious Mitsubishi Maters tournament.

Apart from the club’s two pristine golf courses that continue to attract worldwide acclaim, there’s now another major incentive to play at Moonah Links and spend up big in the pro shop.

So what lies ahead for our lucky winners? Moonah Links, with the support of Golfer Pacific, will implement a promotional campaign that will see the club use the $100,000 cash giveaway to drive much-needed revenue into its business.

This may include giving customers the chance to enter the club’s $100,000 draw through the purchasing of merchandise, memberships, green fees, food and drink in the bar and bistro, and even simply by playing in selected competitions.

What campaign the club runs with will be finalised shortly, but Golfer Pacific general manager, Leigh Smith, said the club can only benefit from this unique concept.
“This is an insured prize promotion – whereby Golfer Pacific will look after the insurance policy for Moonah Links and they get the chance to ‘wow’ their customers with their own chance-draw for $100,000,” Smith said.
“The next few months are going to be exiting times for our winners, and we are delighted we are able to contribute to the growth of our sport during what have been challenging times.”

One gets the feeling it’s going to be a big year for golfers at Moonah Links. From all of us here at Golfer Pacific, congratulations!
